Project: Grading, drainage & hillside rock armor
The existing site around the barn allowed for water intrusion due to a negative grade along the perimeter.
Tree stumps were excavated and removed to allow for grading along the side of the barn to create positive surface drainage.
Excavated soil was redistributed to create a berm to divert runoff. The slope down to the barn was notched in preparation for rock armor and weed-mat was installed. Downspout drains were trenched to drain away from the structure.
4"-9" rock was spread on the slope to armor and prevent erosion. Road base was spread and compacted between the barn and slope to create a parking area.
Project: Grading & yard restoration
Topsoil was spread and the yard was graded to smooth rough and patchy areas.
A fescue seed blend was broadcast over all bare dirt areas and lightly back-raked into the soil. A layer of straw-mat was installed to protect the seed and help prevent erosion.
Garden hoses and sprinklers were temporarily setup to water on a timer, starting in the mornings, for the first 2 - 3 weeks. 1 inch of water per week beyond the initial watering period is necessary to maintain a healthy stand of grass.
